    Old brooch?

    Hello:

Old brooch. Maybe sterling silver because the reverse side is shiny after years in the ground. Dark stone?? Any comments on the brooch would be appreciated. Brooch is approximately 1 inch wide and 2 in long.

    Thanks and happy holidays!!

Thats brooch is about as ugly as my Grandmothers ring! http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.p...,212592.0.html I dont mean it in a bad way. It shows how style and good taste has changed over the years. It can be dated by the hinge on the backside.

I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

It's a Victorian 'mourning' brooch denoted by the black stone. The open face roses are so typical of the Victorian era. Neat find Breezie
