Revolutionary War campsite - British crown decoration?

Hello, I found this item at a small Revolutionary War campsite in Wake County, NC. It was once gold gilted. It is fan shaped in the British crown shape? When it was dug up, it was folded in half. I spread it out and cleaned up. Under the scope you can see the gold gilt in place. Other artifacts found at this location were American, including: shoe buckle, knee buckle, tombac button, and American sword scabbard tip, 3 musket balls. Once musket ball chewed. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Dimensions are roughly 5" wide and 2.5" height. Wondering if it was a trophy and folded in half and discarded?

The point was, it is the shape of a crown, found at an 18th century site. No claim to British loyalty here, I was hoping for some feedback and guess I got it. Wow, awesome... Are you a Red Coat?

I guess I'm a little sensitive with the Red Coat comments at the moment

Lets try and ID this,, although it will need better photos, I can't see the gilding & the metal 'seems' to be a cheap tin or steel looking metal. Are those two fixing holes in the top left edge (or damage)?

This has brought me a good laugh, I'm Scotch Irish, so again Cheers! I will try to get some other pics for clarity, I kept having to shrink my best best pics with detail, and this was the result. IT is damage or deterioration on the upper rim, there is a seam on the back of the base. Could it be a hat decoration, (above or near the forehead)? It is the one neat artifact that I found at the site that puzzles me. Everything else was identified.

No!...You're American. No Scot would say they were "scotch" as "scotch" is a drink. You're Scots-Irish and probably of "descent".
Just saying....in case you come across a real "Jock". (Nothing to do with football "jock" either.)
