Printing plate...it's a woman in a corset...middle word on top row is "beauty". To me, the woman's hair looks like that of a "Gibson Girl". If it is, that would date it to late 19th - early 20th century.
Try dusting it with flour, corn starch or baby powder to see if it brings out some detail.
"Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God the Father, means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us." James 1:27

I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines. I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.
Bramble has nailed it. I too reversed the pic and can see the words American Beauty, plus the last part is '26, so I'm assuming it's the date of 1926. Nice work Bramble! Breezie
Every time I watch Gone With The Wind, I think we're gonna win this time!

I usually take some steel wool and lightly clean with it.
Those plates are surprisingly durable, and the before/after can be impressive.
Try it on the back side first, if you are nervous about damaging it.
Then send us a new post.
Excellent find!
