    Wheatie used as a target...

I found this wheat penny that has been shot. There is a prefessional little notch in the top that it was apparently hung from. I found this at site that has hosted a small fair since 1895 so I'm assuming it is from a travelling sharp shooter show or gun salesman. I can't find any info on either so far so I decided to post it here and see if anyone else has come across one of these. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thats cool maybe shot with a pistol. The only type I can recall are the Remington Kleanbore types shot out of the air.

Cool info guys thanks! Having custom tokens made up to shoot is a cool promotional gimmick!

Re: Wheatie used as a target...

When I was taught how to shoot, I was told to focus on the smallest thing I could see, and my dad would go super glue a brand new shiny penny on the target to give me a focal point. It worked like a charm.

It's how he was taught, and how his dad was taught. So I could imagine many other people used the same concept.

Here's a shield nickle I found here on the farm shot with a round ball, now that's good shooting.

Cool. I used to shoot patch and roundball out of my rifle. They are extremely accurate. That accuracy helped win the war against our Redcoat friends.

Here are some tokens shot with a modern high powered rifle.
