Are there any 120 year old coal miners here

Or someone who is knowledgable about mining in that era. I found these two little items near a mining town. They are iron, not brass as would be expected around explosives.

Sometimes I feel like I'm 120 yrs. old! They look like part of a 'tommy stick,' which is a miner's candle holder. Nice items, Breezie

I think what Breezie said could be right.

The only other option I could think of is - back years ago, the coal miners got their lunches right on site (at some camps), and it could be a pot hanger.

    Nice find.

    Beth

I can answer the first question.
I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.
