    brass item need ID

    I had this peice laying around in my junk not sure what it is ... it measures 4 1/4 inches long solid brass with gear like teeth on the inside .. with the letters B&C on the back and a small stamp with Y&T

    Looks like a latch insert of some sort.

    The picture is too large for my screen but I think the Y & T logo is Yale & Towne.

    I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

    Looks like a window sash lift. Check out the second photo on this web site:

    It shows a decorative sash lift, made by Y & T also. If you look close, you can see
    what appears to be "tracks" inside this one also.
