    Victorian Gold?? Please help

Got this beautiful ring at an antique jewelry store. The clerk claimed that is was 9k victorian gold from the 1800's. Is this correct? The ring has a hallmark of three xxx's and a sideways w shown in the picture and the clerk did not know what it meant. I would say the ring is probably 7 to 8mm wide and a size of 9 to 10 mens, you can tell from the image that the ring is too big for my finger which is a size 8 1/2.
Please tell me any information you know!
    THANKS!!!!

The mark is J.R. Wood & Sons. The XXX = 3/4 or .750 or 18K Gold.

I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

WELCOME to the forum! You certainly made a nice snag with that one since the jeweler thought it was 9K and in reality it's 18k!

The book is copyright 1922 but someone would have to search the company to see how long they have been using this mark.

Here is a 1919 catalog that states they have been in business for 69 years. http://www.morninggloryantiques.com/JewelChatJRWood.htm
