Re: Looks like a button .... but ?
Maybe it's a "pull" of some description; perhaps on leather. Neat find, Breezie
Every time I watch Gone With The Wind, I think we're gonna win this time!

Hi Breezie It could very well be a pull of some sort. If somebody could show me
an example that would be great.
Thanks Much Mike

Mike I Think What you Have is a Cabinet Door
Pull, that also Used the same Principal as shaun7 's
Button.
It Slid sideways on the Track slightly to Open,
& If I Remember Correctly were Spring Loaded
If I'm wrong They were Same use but Twist to open.
Been many years since I Used some Somewhere
in a Home, & Can't remember Who's
Possably my Grandparents.
Here Ya Go, Same Principal
slide & Pull, only on a Wooden Cabinet door
discriminate out Spike TV and American Diggers !

Makes sense to me Jeff
I remember seeing them and using them, but i can't remember what
they looked like.
If your convinced thats what it is you can green check it. If not
i'll hold off a while longer.
Thanks Much Mike

Re: Looks like a button .... but ?
Little Update:
I showed this whats it to a friend who's an antique dealer for 40+years.
He ruled out wooden cabinet. He did say it was probably on leather like
Breezie said. Thanks Breezie !! Maybe even faux leather ?
He puts the date at 1870- I'm still gonna hold off on a green check
and see if anyone can anything else on this.
thanks to all who replied Mike
