This item is about 7 inches tall, not including the handle at the top. Hanging from the handle is a small tag with individually punched letters that say STARK, the A is upside down. It looks as though a square handle or wrench fits into the top and is turned like a vise or press to squish the brass looking sections at the bottom. Stamped on the brass pieces is the word Shapiro. Each of the two brass items at the bottom come apart into 3 pieces.
Here's one of the brass looking containers taken apart. It looks like there might be a sort of dried up plaster type substance inside in places. These 3 pieces don't fit together very tightly as you can see light between them in places. I also noticed there are hammer marks on the bottoms of both pieces where it looks like someone was trying to bang them apart after whatever was inside had set up. I think you can see the Shapiro name as well.
A food press, maybe? For butter, cheese or oil perhaps? Seems like the form would allow for liquids to escape between the layers, possibly for collection.
Totally a guess on my part. Too small for cider or fruit juice IMO. Seems to be missing a central shaft as well.

Wow, I'd say that's definitely what it is, how crazy, I'd have never come up with that on my own! BK had the craziest off the wall guess as something to do with dentures which seemed very plausible, I assume based on the shape of the containers, but I'd say this confirms it 100%. I appreciate everyone's help with this one, it was good times taking your ideas and running with them and seeing what we could come up with.
