The letter T with 3 wire Braids ???

Any help iding this would be most appreiciated, it is about 1 1/2 in in length, brass. I also found another Letter that is a L with the wire braid. I found these with several CW relics including a Dragoon button, but doesn't of course contain them to that era.

very interesting thought, I don't think it has been altered by looking at the finished edges of the piece.
I will add a pic of the letter L shortly that I also dug on the property. these pieces are of heavy guage and would probably been fastened to leather.

The attachment locations lead me to believe that it may once have looked something like this.
