Tombac Button. This is gonna be tough to ID

Well, I was off early this morning in the freezing weather, but was determined to find something good today.Went to an old haunt ( Battle Field Area ) went to the beach at the bottom of the hill and recovered a few things nothing realk good to mention. 27 degrees with out the windchill so I wasn't able to stay very long. I did manage an old dress weight and a couple wheaties. 3 quarters and a couple nickels. I also SAVED this Tombac Button. Please help me ID this one. I took a few pics hoping this helps. Maybe clean it up a bit may help. At times it looks like it has a G on it off to the side, also may have the number 11 ( regiment ) ? also looks like it may have a reath around the outside. My eyes are not what they used to be. Please help. Thanks

can't tell ya about the button, but thanks for the weather report, I was thinking of driving the 450 miles to visit my pals and hit some of the beaches out there. One of my best days for silver was on a backside beach. Also what looks like a pine tree shilling, but copper. Guess I'll post here and ask the pros-- da Prof ♬♬

Are you certain this is a tombac button?

Tombac metal is usually recovered with a very smooth surface finish. Also, is there any evidence of a shank (or loop) on the back of this find?

My eyes are seeing something that resembles more an 18th or early 19th century copper coin.

CC thanks to you I started looking around on the web. I have Ideed it. It's a flat 3rd reg Artillery Button that looks just like this one but in not as good a shape due to being found in salt water.

Re: Tombac Button. This is gonna be tough to ID

Went to an old stomping ground yesterday in the freezing weather ( 25 degrees ) and found that I wasn't as tough as I used to be...:lmfao: Wind was blowing and the hands just didn't last to long. I found a couple of goodies, One being a lead dress weight that the woman used to keep the dresses down in the wind. The other one I got on video, was an 1812/13 Artillery flat button. It's from the 3 RD regiment and needs some tender loving cleaning.:yikes: Its very worn and hardly readable, but it's mine and I saved it from the elements. Enjoy the short video. Happy Hunting.http://losttreasure.tv/index.php?pag...&vid_id=102034

Another possibility. The head turn is what I am focusing on.
