Need to see the back, something in the pic to reference the size, and a bigger/more detailed pic to attempt to read the kanji characters.
Also info on where you found it is sometimes helpful.

    Chinese?
I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

Re: Is this from a charm bracelet?

My buddy who reads some Chinese says this is way too difficult for him. He recognizes the first symbol as "Capitol". The second symbol, the two outer vertical pillars mean "Gate", but the character in the middle of the pillars he cannot see properly and can be different things, such as "Here" or a period of time. Finally, the second to the last symbol is "Dragon."

He did give me this interesting tidbit, which I thought might help us in the futue:

"It is definitely Chinese. Chinese dragons have 5 toes, Korean dragons have 4 toes, Japanese have 3"

Hope I was a little help...

I looked at it but I've proven more than once on this forum that my Chinese/Japanese reading ability sucks.

It is interesting that he picked out the symbol for "gate". The top edge of this charm depicts part of "The Great Wall". I wonder if it says something about the gates...

    O.D.

Thanks for the bigger, better pics. But the size is not the problem. These characters are stylized - like handwriting. With printed characters I can sometimes figure out the radicals (parts of the character) to determine what the meaning is. I've tried with these and I can't figure out anything other than "gate" & "dragon".

Take it to your favorite Chinese restaurant and show it to the waitress. I bet she'll know someone who can read it.

    Good luck.

Re: Is this from a charm bracelet?

From what I understand, it is difficult to translate from chinese to english. The wording has something to do with the key to the door or gate. So I assume that this medalion has something to do with protecting your keys while it is on your key ring? Thanks to all of you for your help! Old digger.
