CIVIL WAR BULLET? VERY ODD DESIGN

Dug this bullet the other day and I've never seen one quite like it. It appears to be a Civil War bullet. It has 2 grooves as you can see in the picture but they are very very deep grooves. It's also rounded at the top. Not sure if this is due to being fired or if it was designed this way. The bottom of the bullet is completely flat. It measures a little over 3/4'' long and 1/2'' diameter.

Has anyone seen one like this before?

Pretty sure what you have there is a modern .50 cal Maxi ball for a muzzle loader rifle.
