Old Badge???
I found this along a river bank in Mass, not far from an old mill foundation. Crude badge I think with a skull and cross bones possibly? Any ideas what this is and what the symbol represents? Thank you

It does look like skull & bones. Too crude for the Yale crowd. Maybe a local secret society?
What does the back look like? Was it a lapel pin?

Smooth back, was not a button or pin....people in the area I showed it to have the same thoughts as you...some sort of society. Thanks for commenting.

Have you checked it out closely under a good magnifying glass to make sure it is whole as pictured? Definitely no signs of rust from a pin on the back, or any evidence of a loop being broken off the top or anything? Can we get a photo without the added interpretation by you on it? I can see what your referring to but it is a little blurry when I expand the photo.
