When the going gets wierd, the wierd turn pro....
The Seventh Corps used an emblem similar to that and they were in Virginia, but I'm not sure that's what you have. That emblem was also used by masonic groups, and is all over New Orleans, hopefully someone else can positively ID it for you. Whats the back look like?
"That's me, on the beach side combing the sand, metal meter in my hand, sporting a pocket full of change"...... NOFX
Now in the process of posting my antique photo collection at : http://forgottonimages.tumblr.com/

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing
Shriners too. The star and crescent is a fairly ubiquitous symbol. I'd like to see the back as well.

Thanks. This is a hell of a site and y'all are extremely helpful. Here are a few pics of the back. Its about the size of a half dollar

If it is the size of a half dollar, I wonder if it might be a bridal rosette.

Think you 're right it is rosette, and it does look like a new Orleans design but the sun rays are the only thing different

Or star rays or whatever those lines are
