I went back to the same spot where i found the other piece i posted and found this button, please help identify the era if possible.

Looks to be a US Army rosette used on leather gear. A picture of that back would be helpful in solving this.

I'm still leaning towards it being a US Army rosette.

As usual, Ffuries is right about US Military insignia... it is a US Army horsegear rosette. As the photo shows, this one had an iron-sheetmetal back that is rusted out. Being the ironback type, it is from the Indian Wars era to Spanish-American War era.
