Ribbon of 1935 German Tinnies. Why? What for?
Picked this up years ago in Virginia at an Antique show I did up there.
We know it is German. Year is 1935. City's are listed on the top of each tinnie.
There are 11 tinnies..One is missing. January-December. (September missing.)
They are Political..Not military.
No marks on the back of them They are made of tin and painted.
Can any one give me the what are they for and why??
I have never been able to anwser those two questions....
Thanks!!!!

He uses the word " iglau" in eBay which is a German city in the Czech Republic. Jihlava - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You could send a quick note to the buyer.

They remind me of VolksMarch medals. It looks like the writing along the bottom is the same on all of them.

Volksbund für Deutschtum im Ausland (VDA) People's Society for Germanism
in Foreign Countries
It was a cultural organization. Outlawed at the end of WWII by the Allies but re-emerged in the 1950's. Not sure of the purpose of the pins yet. Still looking.

These were given to German school children.
Kameradschaftsfeier für den VDA - children bring a small sacrifice for the monthly VDA, for each 0.05 M, they will receive a plaque with the emblem of a foreign city in Germany
Part of the indoctrination into "the faith" at that time in Germany. The kids were steeped in this stuff and it had a lasting impression. I had a prof in college who lived in Berlin in the early 60's. He said his landlady was a former Hitlerjugend. He pointed her out to us in a Nazi propaganda film. Even 20 years after the war she could not understand why people hated Hitler because he was "such a great man". It makes you wonder about some of the things we put our kids through today...

That one is pinned on the ribbon at February. It was given with a " donation" As were many of the so called "Tinnies."
I have a number of unusual ones listed on my web site. www.genius-antiques.com They are under the German military items, but are really political in nature.
Thank's for the help. Think I am going to hang on to these for a while. To have a series on a dated ribbon seems unique.

It was fun. I have done about six segments of Cajun Pawn Stars on the History Chanel. It is on Wednesday nights at either 8pm or 9pm depending on the time zone. I think the next segment will be on a pair of Union swords from the Civil War. I also did one that will air August 1 st on a 1953 MG-TD I have for sale.
Thanks!
