Lily pad & flower jewelry piece
Is this a brooch? I can't figure out the attachment - maybe it is part of something else? Found in the yard of an early 1800s house.
Thank you!

The "lily pad" looks like a painter's palette to me. Very clever.

While I have aimed in my postings to be irenic and conciliatory, rather than polemic, I have yet endeavored to set forth the
truth, let it favor or impugn whom it might. Any notice of misrepresentations or mistakes occurring in these prose will be most thankfully received

Very good! I almost took back the lily pad description before I posted but I went with my first impression and just let it fly
Hi Pirata - it is raised about an inch but it is flexible and could be bent from its original position.

DC Matt is right about it being a palette. Those would be paint brushes poking through the thumb hole.

Since it has a flower and floral markings, I'm going with a lily pad brooch. Neat find Bramble
