nickname: Eagle Four-Eyes
Need some help with this item.
This was found in a very old area. But, I can't make up my mind as to what it may have been. I'm thinking brooch. Seems like some iron rust on the back like a pin had eroded.
The rest is not magnetic.
Any ideas?
I have to take my detector out for a walk every now & then. If I don't, it starts leaving little piles of pull tabs all over the house!!

I Often Find Myself Killing Time Looking For What Time Has Killed!
Not sure how old your talking, but my first thought would be a mount. But I'm not able to see the back good enough in the photos to make the call. It's size is sure enough right for a mount as I've found quite a few.

Do you think it could have had two attachment points on the back like these in my hand?

Here ya go Pete; can you see it better now? After downloading and tweaking, I think it might be a bookmark. Actually, we need to know how 'thick' it was originally to better determine. Interesting find, Breezie

Does look like it had a pin on the back. Could be a brooch or a chatelaine clip. Looking at the front, there could have been paste or other decorative stones in the pits as they appear to be fairly symetrical.
