    russian, but what about its worth?

    i have something similar to this, except mine wasn't made into a necklace medallion...
    trying to find a pic of the front also...

    Why Russian? The language is German and means something like, "Chief Municipality. January 6, 1820."

    Can you post a link to the source of the photo?

    Okay, thanks! I see that the site attributes it to Dorpat, which is described as, "...a town on the Embach, in Livonia, Russia, 150 m. NE. of Riga...the majority of the population is German." [http://www.fromoldbooks.org/Wood-Nut...d/dorpat.html]

    Guess that explains it. Interesting piece!
