"tool or weight"{it,s not a dumb-bell]
hi all,i found this tool or weight about a month a go and it took a light sanding disc to clean the rust off.The object is about 4 and half inches long and clearly has " 1 LB" stamped on it. Any ideas on this one and most of the other relics and shards found in this area date between 1880 -1920.

Re: "tool or weight"
hi guys,
i think it might be a thing called a knife rest for your butter or other table knife.
most are silver or cut glass but it might be a poor mans example.
good find though.

Re: "tool or weight"{it,s not a dumb-bell]
hi all the item is not a dumbell, the inside shaft is narrow and can,t be griped by a hand comfortably. The ball ends are flat on the top and bottom so the item can sit flat on a surface without rolling. The item also has grooves cut into the ball end.I was thinking may be a tool like a dolly for shaping thin steel.

It's a 1 lb. American counter weight that goes to a scale like one in a feed store. Monty
