Chest Crest help with ID needed

I told a freind of mine i would see if any one recognizes the Crest on this old hand carved chest which i`m guessing dates around the 1900`s.
Any help is appreciated in advance.

I tried to find a match to the coat of arms but nothing, sorry.

The double headed eagle on which the crest is set upon may be a key to finding the solution. I just don't find a match for this either, that would make sense.

Various countries and cultures used this symbol.
The only one crowned with a large coronet like this one is the Byzantine eagle and this chest is not that old...
The Russian eagle is crowned with one large imperial crown and the two heads are either with or without crowns. Same goes for the Serbian eagle.
The Albanian is without a crown.

The masons used the double headed eagle as a symbol, too. Any masonic connections known to the chest?

The carved "shell" handles might give another clue aout it's origin.

Similar but not the same. This is listed as a decorative item in a London antique shop.

Yours may not be a real family crest.

My freind`s reply to your questions.
    Hi Bill,
When I bought this chest in 1970 from an antique shop in Chapel Hill, I was told it was English from about 1850. Whether this is true or not, I don't know.
I would love to learn more about it and really appreciate your efforts to investigate it. Thanks so much.

Hope it turns out to be masonic but now i`m leaning towards British.
Byzantine? I guess i`ll have to do some more research on that one.
It`s always fun to learn new things.
Thanks again in advance for everyones 2-cents.
    Bill
