    Belt Buckle? ?

    Hello everyone,

Saturday I was at a private property, didn't seem too have many signals. Or maybe it was because the land owner followed me around all day, he said hey dave check here, hey dave look here. Funny, I brought an extra machine just in case the land owner wanted to use it, but stated that he had stuff to do. Luckily I also had a buddy with me, my phone rings its my wife. Land owner gives me privacy and goes to see what my buddy has dug up. I finish talking to my wife, I focus on the machine and get a nice 12-37 signal solid red target only 9 inches deep. I was thinking Indian Head penny, instead out comes this buckle. Shaped like a bell, no markings on it whatsoever, and its thick. 0.130 thousands in thickness. Anyone know what time period this is from , or what it was used for, what is the value of item? Thanks, DFD

Maybe for a saddle? judging by the bell end I think that would provide the leverage to pull the buckle down to tighten?

Edit: on second thought maybe not, it looks big in the first pic but not in the last. Can't really tell the scale.

I'm fairly sure I see writing on the back of it, on the right side of photo (of the back). If the buckle were turned 90 degrees clockwise the words would be oriented correctly... I'd clean up the back a bit and have another look.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain

I used a recent find from last Friday to show size comparison and maybe a different angle to read maybe some writing, I still don't see any though. Thanks to everyone who has commented.
