    Thanks Ron.

It's made out of copper and I found it in central Maryland.

    Interesting item you have there.

I tried searching the net, but to no avail, for anything close to what you have.

I would think it could either be a game arcade token, maybe a coin grocers used to give out (kinda' like our paper coupons today), or even maybe a tax coin I have no idea ... just trying to throw something out there.

I wonder if G.Z. could be the initial of someone (maybe a grocer?)

Will have to check back to see if anyone came up with an idea as to the identification of your coin. Good Luck....

Are you showing both sides, or are they different? Some kind of token no doubt. Monty

Probably a "picker's token" - the plantation owner's initials are probably those on the token. After the worker picked a certain amount of whatever they were picking, and turned in the basket, he/she would get a token. At the end of the day, he/she would turn in all the tokens for cash. It is fairly unusual for the denomination to be marked on these tokens as that took away the flexibility for the plantation owner to change. Usually it was just understood that "for today, you get 1 for each bushel". I don't have the MD token book, but will try to ask the author, David Schenkman, about it.
