Found in Denmark - could this be American ??

    Hi there !!

Found this today here in Denmark:

A better dating you can hardly get !! 8)

Diameter: 4 centimeters. Material thin brass.

Looks like the top of a smal box or something like that ??

Now who knows what was patented in September 1862 ??

I think it was the prize inside a cheese Danish.

Without the patent number, it may be hard to ID. What were the circumstances under which you found it? The environment or location?

    We need some clues.

    Hi, TT

It was found on a field that has many finds from an old town very nearby, finds are mostly from 1600 - 1900.
I was told on a british forum by a Canadian, that it might be American, that´s why I post it here.

I thought somebody might recognize the LOGO with the S and the arrow ??

    Thanks for your interest !!!

4 cm = 2 inches +/-. The arrow through the S makes it resemble a dollar sign ($). The patent date was during the American Civil War. The design around the center looks somewhat feminine. Haven't got any idea. Send it to me, it belongs in America!

The style of the head on the broad arrow is more like the English use in Heraldry than the arrow depicted on coins ,seals ,and other objects in the U.S.A.That style of S appears to have been more used by the English in that time period.

September is spelled instead of being abbreviated.
