    Handmade copper/brass spoons any ideas?

Found these last week at an old CCC camp site that is now just a meadow but was probably occupied in late 30's/early 40's. They were both together, but in sandy, rocky soil and only about 2" deep. They appear to be cut in one piece and the bowl hammered into shape. Not sure about the metal but has patina like copper but ring when tapped together more like brass. I don't use a meter but they scream on full discrimination like a huge penny. Any of you out there found any similiar. They have just been cleaned with water and slightly abrasive sponge back.

I'm not a spoon expert but, from your descriptions, have seen similar examples (shape-wise) that pre-date 17th century. I would anticipate some TNet members will have some helpful information for you soon. If you are comfortable, it would also help for a "generalized" location on where you found these spoons as well as their physical size. In any event, those are exceptional finds. . . very nice (green with envy )
