A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Fridays Dig Site...

I found another dig site! For those of you that saw my post from Friday you'll understand why I was anxious to get back to the site and finish digging, so that was the plan for today. BUT.. I figured I had a bit of a walk ahead of me so I may as well detect along the way, with a quarter mile still to go I came across a pretty decent signal. Soooo what ya gonna do, I had to dig it. Here is the result, they popped out of the hole one after another! It took a while to fight some of them out because of some serious tree roots, in fact the job is still not done and I need to go back and finish up with the right tools..

Saw this on the other post, it looks like you have all Brown Bess parts there! Outstanding! The piece upper right by the side plate looks to be a wrist plate (escutcheon) from the stock and may likely have regimental numbers on it... I'd love to see them all cleaned up!

I'd go dig EVERY iron signal there and hope for the locks and other parts!

oops, I spoke too soon, that side plate looks to be a match for the British Sea Service pistol, and I now think the trigger guards are as well...

Who would have ever thought that there would have been more than one in the hole? Wonder what the story was behind them all being there. Definitely part of a parts bag must be more there, as you said.Awesome finds!

Interesting, all in one hole? I am curious as to why. Congrats!

Wow, you have a museum's worth of antique gun parts, congratulations! What if a chest containing the ship's pistols was tossed overboard during a shipwreck, landed ashore, and deteriorated over the next 300 years? Wowzers! Sub
