    mining camp items

Had a pretty good day yesterday. My buddy found a shaving razor and another button. I found an intact spoon which makes 2 found at this spot. Any info on these 2 items would be great. The button is gold plated and the design is nice! Thanks folks! Click image for larger version.

My guess is a vintage wood chisel, could have been fashioned from an old file:

The button my guess is a modern fashion button, the rusted out back points to that.

The item in your hand is either a screwdriver missing the wooden handle or as Ant said a chisel, missing handle. The part above the collar is the tang which would have been in the handle.

America was founded by tough hell-raisers. Rugged citizens who evaded taxes, spoke strongly against tyranny, grew tobacco, brewed beer, distilled spirits, and smuggled weapons. And it will be saved by those same types of citizens.

We thought it might be a screwdriver as well. Glad to hear a confirmation there. As for the button Ant, when you say "modern", how recent are you suggesting? I ask because we have found nothing other than miners items at this location. Heres the shaving razor (at least I think it is being as sharp as it still is) found there. The spoon is in the truck so I'll post a pic of it later. Can't wait to go back!

It's definitely a straight razor. No question
