    Bayonet hook part, Bayonet Scabbard? ??? Any Help is welcome

    Dug this piece in a field where i have found
    Several General Service buttons from the
    Civil War, the hook reminds me of the Bayonet
    Part with the same looking hook, seems to be brass, Click image for larger version.

    Civil war bayonets were of the socket type and were carried in a leather frog, but your piece is still some sort of hangar that affixed to a belt.. could be for a sword with a 2- ring scabbard.

    It probably had a leather strap attached to it and the hook part could have fit into another piece of similar design
