Heljp Id metal from cw site

Found this by a stream on my property which sits on a Confederate camp site. It's about ten inches long and 1 1/2 inch wide. Looks like Iron. Any ideas? Click image for larger version.

Thanks, recognize it now. Before it was a CW campsite it was a colonial farm

    Yours is post Civil War.

The stiffening channel on your piece was produced in a production mill and appears to be a Seymour. They were founded in 1872. Other possibility a North Wayne (Oakland, Maine from 1879 1967)

Older blades were forged by hand and flat tapered with a "T" shaped spine for stiffness.
