    Revolutionary war artifacts

These items were found in a field with several buttons that date back to the revolutionary war. Can anyone identify what kind of buckle this is or what the item on the lower left is? Quarter for size comparison.

These items are from the same field. Any ideas? The wedge shaped object is made of lead (upper right). These items are pretty small also (sorry no coin for comparison) the lead wedge is about 1 3/4 inches long.

Looks like rusted up square nail , upper left, pewter spoon, (cool find), lead looks like a home made sinker, is that a hole thru the end of it ?

Lower right object in pic #2 - musket hammer? I'm no expert, but if it is a hammer, looks more like Civil War than Revolutionary War. Could the field be a Civil War camp site?

I hunt a small field near my house that has produced Civil War objects as well as earlier buttons. Also found arrowheads. It must have been a popular spot to camp for MANY years.

The buckle is of modern construction & not much older than 100 years.

I checked. There was not any civil war activity in this area. The item is not heavy or solid enough to be a hammer so I tend to agree with Jim West Pa that it may be a spoon of some sort. The other item is definately a jew harp. I got a revolutionary war artifact book yesterday and have been thumbing through it. I cant seem to find anything about the other items in there.

Gotta tell ya, you got a great eye for stuff not to have thrown that in ur trash pile.

Looking at those things....and my eyes sometimes...Might have been quite the loss for me.

Yes Jim. The lead object has a hole in it. I'm sure you're right. It's a sinker.

    Re: Revolutionary war artifacts

I've been doing some research myself on this one also. I actually got a book about Revolutionary war artifacts and found a great picture that describes and illustrates some of the typical things that were carried in colonial era hunting bags. In the picture, you see the Jew harp, an object that is probably the spoon in my picture, and what is referred to as a piece of trade lead. (in between the spoon and the bullet mold) that seems to match the lead sinker type item in my picture. Just wanted to keep everyone updated.
