    These are still a mystery!

I found these two decorative pieces under a pile of rocks at the side of a farm field I was detecting in 2011. These 'triangles' are made of brass, they're plated in either silver or nickel and are forever linked together.
They both measure 1.25" at the base and 1.50" along each side. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what their function was and what period they might date from?

    Thank you,
    Dave

Have no idea, but for some odd reason I like them.

The workmanship looks kinda crude. I think someone put them together. The bars were not cut the same length and the solder is sloppy. Still strange.

I'll take (another) shot at this one...

Not triangles but V's - as in Victory - in the war in Europe and the war in the Pacific.

On the back you can see a broken attachment point. I'm guessing for a stick pin/lapel pin.

At the bottom of one V you can see a small worn spot where the other V dangled down (also slightly visible on the front).

So... WWII Victory X 2 stick pin...

I can't find another example because this is a hand made, one-off item.

Yossarian: Ok, let me see if I've got this straight. In order to be grounded, I've got to be crazy. And I must be
crazy to keep flying. But if I ask to be grounded, that means I'm not crazy anymore, and I have to keep flying.

Thanks very much for your input and for your thoughts here guys!
I sent these same pics off to Mark Parker at W&E Magazine and he responded saying, "that he had no idea what these represented either".

Thanks again for your thoughts and theories,
    Dave
