The Hills Give Up Some Mysteries

Went out to one of my tried and true sites tonight. Got a couple of things that allude me. One is obviously a lock plate but to what? The other item has me completely stumped. The site was lived in from the 1860's into the 1920's. Thanks for any help I can get.

I would say the lock is from a chest or trunk.

My guess for that flat metal would be strapping from the same steamer trunk

I think you're right Joe. The flat with the hole could have been over the key hole?

So if the truck rotted right there then the contents would be well under where the lock was found......Dig deeper.... Cool find.
