    Lock Plate

    Can someone identify this lock plate? Sorry its a rough picture and I dont have one of the the other side. I can take one tonight if you need it.

    My first thought is a plate off of a Kentucky Rifle.

    That looks like a m1816 Springfield (and contractors) lock plate, you can still see where the flash pan was cut off

    This is a picture on my m1816 made by R. Johnson, Middleton Connecticut 1830, still shoots like a dream!!

    It does look like an 1816 Springfield... If you can, please post some pics of both sides cleaned up a bit, sometimes the difference between two similar lock plates can be as little as the position of the screw holes.
