    Chain Thing

    Have no idea what this is. I hope its CW related. But the area had mining and logging along with civil war battles. It seems old either way. Thanks

    Not sure, but it may be a broken swivel on the end of that chain.

    Looks like a swivel on the end.

    Could possibly be part of a trap chain? Here are some modern swivels that are on twist-link (kinkless) chain, though the pic of yours is straight-link, or machine chain. The swivel doesn't look familiar, but I'm not real familiar with antique traps, if infact that's what it belongs to.
