    Claret jug / pitcher ? French (?)

My wife and I acquired this piece for a song recently.

We've been researching it, but are hitting a lot of dead ends.

It's certainly very beautiful to us, and we have no plans of getting rid of it no matter what happens.

The cut glass is very, very finely, evenly ribbed for the entire length.

Definitely from Victorian age. No marks anywhere?

There's a large "P" on the frontwhich I'm worried might not be original.
My wife thinks it's original, but was cleaned.

I haven't found any other markings, but we haven't cleaned off the substantial amount of dust

very very cool piece. Can we get some close ups of the bottoms of the glass and the sides?

    Absolutely.
I'll post them this evening along with some better quality / detail photos this morning when I get back from work

We finally found a marking on the underside of the handle:

One of the most interesting parts, to me, of this is the hinge-pin which is connected to the handle via chain:

Here are some other detail shots that show the work on the cut-glass:
We're currently trying to research simple makers marks that used only a "G"

I don't think this is so much a marking as it is a part of the design:

Here's a better view of the large P on the front:

Apparently, a nearly identical item sold on eBay a while back with a vague description as a German silverplate claret jug.

Unfortunately, I can't access the auction or see who the seller was.

    No clue if it's accurate
