Help with Identifing small arms lead. .22 cal

Found this piece of .22 cal lead that seemed unfamiliar to me. It seems to be to small for modern .22 cal lead. I was hoping someone could help me learn what this is and if it is old or of rare. I found this piece of lead near an old Civil war military camp and barracks. I did find some .54 cal balls and a DRAGOON BUTTON.Click image for larger version.

It could be a .22 short but it also could be from the Civil War era. The .22 was the first metal cartridge, I think. Smith & Wesson made a 7 shot .22 pistol that was fairly popular during the war. It was the model 1 and 1 1/2 if I remember right...d2

Maybe a .22 CB cap? Used for gallery shooting indoors. Low power. Gary

It could be a 22 Colibri powderless round.
