    Drill shaped fuze?

Found today near German WW2 items. Ring for scale. What is it?

It is best as one grows older to strip oneself of possessions, to shed oneself downward like a tree, to be almost wholly earth before one dies.

Yossarian: Ok, let me see if I've got this straight. In order to be grounded, I've got to be crazy. And I must be
crazy to keep flying. But if I ask to be grounded, that means I'm not crazy anymore, and I have to keep flying.

The reason I asked if it was glass is it reminds me of the old spiraled German Christmas lights my grandparents had. It has a threaded area, the socket base, and the overall general design. The bulb pictured is a modern bulb and doesn't exactly match the crude spiral bulbs I remember.
