    Cant tell if its for a Hat, knee or Stock
    appears to be silver

    Absolutely clean up the buckle some. I think the way it is made it's a sash buckle form the mid Victorian period, mid 19th century. A very nice find indeed.

    A pants adjustment buckle was my first thought as well, but it's almost too wide.
    I don't think it's a sash buckle either, the teeth are almost too sharp for that.

    I don't think I would ever wear a buckle like that, looks like a small bear trap!!!!!
