    Iron and bronze Thumb screw ID help

    Any ideas what this is
    the heart is bronze and concave perfect for thumb, the shaft is iron

    I am soaking iron portion in white vinegar for a few days, that should remove the crude

    I have found a few of those at a cemetery and yes mine were threaded and I thought it was casket hardware

    I might add that many things had these shaped screws... all kinds of tools etc... But I believe your screw came from above.

    All good ideas. I've got a 19th C hand vise with a heart-shaped wing nut on it. I would think it's a 100+ years old.
