    Medieval ???

I found this item about two years ago in Marlutern Germany while hunting a field. It is not modern by any means but I don't think it is roman either( could be). Maybe one of the Tnet experts could give me a clue .

    Re: Medieval ???

No this thing is very crude, thick and heavy. Made of bronze ,I think. You can see markings that look like they would maybe have some type of meaning. I was told at one time it might be one half of a medieval book clasp but it don't look like any that I have seen. I had some one else tell me they thought it mad have had some kind of wheel in the end of it and wouldhave been used for navigation but that seems a bit unlikely .

I think it is a part of a (medieval or 16-17th cent.) book clasp !

Yeap, mostly likely a Medieval strapend. Not sure why there is a hole in the end (decoration probably). If it didn't have the small slot with the rivet which held it to the leather, I would have said, a broken part of a medieval horse pendant hanger.
