Question Button - Anchor on a 2 Piece Button

I recovered this button on Monday, January 7th, 2019 in South Mississippi... I am hoping that some of you can help me to identify exactly what kind of button it is, what years it was used and or in production and who it was made by. I can find no makers marks. If you have pictures of buttons like this please share them and if you have links to any sites with information on them, I would appreciate it if you shared them also.

As always your help is very much appreciated.

I not sure but I had to be Navy related. Google vintage 1800’s Navy buttons and check images.

    I’d love that beauty. Congratulations

Can we see a picture of the back? What is or isn't there can help get it correctly IDed.
My wife does all the driving, I just hold the steering wheel.

To me, it looks to be a two-piece British Merchant Navy button, if it was American, I would think 'US' would be featured on the front?
Considering that you found it in the southern US, makes me think it's more likely to be a late 19thc or early 20thc blazer button.

Interesting that there are no back marks present, with those you could more easily research your find.

I think the mid to late 19th century is the general time frame as many of the relics coming off of this site are from that era... I made a post here in the Mississippi Forums showing 2 days worth of finds from this site...

It really doesn't need to be Navy related, the anchor was one of the most popular civvy buttons produced, hundreds of different type.
