I wet this hole to see if it would show up better in the pic.

This is the same hole dry. There are 2 open holes like this one, and many holes the size of a pencil that I can see the crystals in with a flashlight, at just the right angle. Is it possible that this is a geode? If not, do tall think it has scientific value?

Pretty cool looking, I say keep it whole and display it.

This is the piece I knocked off and crushed. I got a palm full of red sandy material and planned it. There was 3 little flakes of gold. They were more like specks. That was probably the 3rd time I ever planned so, no telling what I missed. Looking from the outside, the boulder is made up of about 10% this material.

Strange but great find! Looks like some kinda large geode. Try posting over on the rocks/gems forum. Those guys know a thing or two.

Where are you located? This looks a lot like stuff I found in south west Georgia many years ago. At one site in Richland Georgia, there were boulders the size of cars and on many you could see where natives had knocked off pieces to make points. It looked like fossilized corral on the outside and would have beautiful colored chert inside.
