    Need some help Identifying Mystery Item??

    Hi Guys and Gals, I am new here and found something today out detecting that has stumped me!! No shank, very thick, slightly larger than a dime. Markings on the inside are a pitcher, I think a sword, and a crown with the letter G under it. I have no idea. It looks like a button but dont see any sign or how it would attach to garment. Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks MUCH!

    Nice find.

    Similar to yours - King charles the 1st trade weight

    Good Reading - http://www.pewterbank.com/Marks_and_...tish_Isles.pdf

    Fun fact found in Marks and Marking of Weights and Measures of the British Isles, pg 76;
    "Section 17 of the 1889 Act allowed a person using weights or measures in the City of London not to have them verified or stamped by more than one authority and the ewer mark thereafter became redundant and was last used in 1908."

    Wow what an extremely fast response. thank you all for the great response and I am super happy that I found this. I have been finding a lot of very old Colonial items coins and such dating from around the late 1700s and it's right across from my house in a very rural area. Having a lot of fun. Thanks again good hunting!
