    From an 1850's fort site.

I was hoping someone could identify an item I found Sunday at a 1850's site. The item is about 1 1/2" across and about 1/2" wide. The thickness is about 1/32" It appears to be brass. There isn't any signs of it being a pin or medallion. Any idea's Thanks.

Hi Dan, I see it has fastening holes, maybe a pull off a small item like a jewelry box or like

I agree with the two mounting holes it could be a drawer pull or decorative piece of some sort

I'm leaning towards a decoration piece, I think it's too small and flat for a drawer pull. I was amazed I found it whatever it is.

It could be Washington. 1849 marked 50 years since his death. 1889 marked 100 years since his inauguration. Although it could be any number of famous people from around that time...

Possibly part of a commemorative badge/ribbon?

May we see the back please?

It appears to be raised in the middle, which with the two "feet" attachments on the ends lends it to appear to be a HANDLE of some sort.
What ever it was it and the rest of your finds are great.
