I found these shells yesterday in Chapel Hill, NC and can't find any info. on the type, year, etc. I think they are 22 caliber rimless. The bottom has a circle with a Capital M over a Capital W inside the circle. Thanks for any help,
    Homebre from Hillsborough, NC

The look to be .22 Shorts or CB Caps (same rimfire case).

The manufacturer is Federal but sold by Montgomery Ward.
America was founded by tough hell-raisers. Rugged citizens who evaded taxes, spoke strongly against tyranny, grew tobacco, brewed beer, distilled spirits, and smuggled weapons. And it will be saved by those same types of citizens.

Early 1930's to end of the 1950's is when they were made. Used . . . anytime after they were made up to now (I'm still shooting some 1960's stuff in my .22).
