Help with piece of jewelry needed

I found this item at a park that dates back to the 1800's. It has been said that it could be late Victorian or Edwardian but I have no idea. It looks like a broach or maybe even a car emblem. If anybody has any thoughts or ideas on it please let me know what you think! Thanks.

Not sure how much more can be said about this relic - Art Nouveau era (turn-of-the-20th-C) costume brooch or sash pin. Looks like it had a breath of gold gilt on it back in the day.

So I went back to sleep...

Actually looks more like a piece of a drawer pull.

I like the suggestion by Bruce that it might be drawer pull hardware.
Please consider washing the reverse side of this piece and then posting another pic... it would help.
