Car / wagon part, assay piece?

I have had the long piece kicking around forever, it has always stumped me. It’s about 2 feet, patent Aug 31, 1903. The other piece might be mining related. I found a handle metal detecting and never knew what it was. It was marked 7. This one is marked 48. Thanks again!!!Click image for larger version.

you might find this link of interest. The powder measure might have some value to a collector of antique firearm stuff. Check out the bottom of the the page .... Antique Arms, Inc. - Scarce Winchester Powder Measuring Cups in .35 and .48 Grains

Thanks again, that is very interesting. I can’t find the handle I found a long time ago but it must have said 70. I remember the 7. I will be putting that little beauty on eBay after I admire it for a few. I am curious what it will bring. I have an old Winchester catalog on there now! I think down the road early Winchester items will be very collectible.

The 2' long piece reminds me of the arm from a weight/balance scale.

Thanks Dave, I will post better pictures of the ends. It seems like I’ve seen one I just can’t place it.

I’m still curious l, I looked at wagon parts, and part of a clothes rack dryer. Still can not figure it out. It looks like it would slide in and out of something on one end. The other end is smooth like you would use it. Thanks... Click image for larger version.
