I found this today, the piece is bent. I believe it should look somewhat like a book. some people say its a money clip, but I don't think it is. Can anyone identify?Click image for larger version.

I agree with Mike, my grandfather had a similar one from WWI.
The paper matchbox would slide in between the two sections of brass.

    Very nice find,

I am quite certain that this was a matchbox holder, thanks guys. Btw I found this right in front of my house. A big old house that was converted to apts in the 50s.

Hi ffuries, I work for a small company that does repair and upgrade work on the fv Sea Fighter in pcb. I always wish I had my detector when I am there.

Good time to hunt, with the fact Hurricane Michael churned up a lot of the landscape and beaches, plus all the storms, nasty rain with serious surf action almost weekly since then. The local landscape is changing and being refreshed almost weekly now, serious flooding issues in Callaway and the surrounding areas. If you have military/government access, Tyndall Beach on Tyndall AFB is prime for the picking. Not many people out there on a normal year, even more vacant now. It's about 3-4 miles of white sugar sand, needing to be hunted.
