Dog or Cat Vaccination Tag or...???

Hi, I was excited to find this in my backyard this evening in NW Indiana. I first thought it was a dog or cat tag but then was thinking aren't those usually issued by city or county? What's with the "corn states"? It's typical pet tag size, 1 1/4" high and 3/4" across the middle and aluminum. Back side is blank so didn't photograph. Found one similar on ebay but no details there on its origin. Any help appreciated!

There is an ag company called Corn States. Been around for 70 years. Could be something to do with them.

    Very nice find.
I've found a bunch of dog licenses and rabies tags, but I've never seen one like yours.
Looks to be more of a regional vaccination tag.

"Almost all cases of human rabies result from dog bites, making the elimination of canine rabies a global priority. During recent decades, many countries in the Western Hemisphere have carried out large-scale dog vaccination campaigns, controlled their free-ranging dog populations and enforced legislation for responsible pet ownership. Canada and the USA were the first countries of the Americas to make significant advances in the control and elimination of dog maintained RABLV variants from their dog populations. From the 1940s to the late 1950s, most of the sporadic dog rabies epizootics in Canada were related to arctic fox rabies that spilled over from the arctic fox RABLV variant into sled dogs, particularly in northern regions of the country. During this time, control of rabies in the USA and Mexico became more problematic due to the greater diversity of dog-maintained and dog-derived RABLVs circulating in both countries and the implicit challenges associated with coordination of bi-national efforts."

Gene may be onto something with his suggestion.

Thanks Dave and Gene. I think Gene was right. I am thinking Corn States must have offered pet vaccinations back in the day. Maybe as a perk to help them sell their seeds....I am going to mark it as "solved". Thanks again!
